The player retention window for the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has officially closed, with all 10 franchises finalizing their squads. A total of 46 players have been retained, amounting to a combined expenditure of INR 558.5 crore.

With each team allotted a salary cap of INR 120 crore, franchises were allowed to retain up to six players. This included a maximum of five capped international players and up to two uncapped Indian players.

  • Defending Champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals (RR) retained six players each, securing their core teams.
  • Retention Breakdown:
    • Five franchises—Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Gujarat Titans (GT), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Mumbai Indians (MI), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)—retained five players each.
    • Delhi Capitals (DC) retained four players, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) retained three and two players, respectively.
  • Punjab Kings (PBKS) head into the mega auction with the largest purse of INR 110.5 crore, promising an exciting lineup for the season.
